Build and inspire community through the visual arts. The mission of SAGE Community Arts is one that I may be partial to but truly believe in. Our latest exhibit in the exhibit hall is “Wyoming Waters: Small Works Water Media.” This show is everything SAGE strives to achieve through our mission.
In an effort to solicit artwork for the “Wyoming Waters: Small Works” exhibition, the key was to minimize restrictions on artist submissions. The prospectus for the art call states that works that need to be created within the past two years must be primarily water-based media (watercolor, gouache, acrylic, etc.), cannot exceed 20 inches in height or width, including frames, and have only 40 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis have to.
It was decided that there will be no fees and no need to be a member of SAGE. By removing these limitations, we were able to make this exhibition a true community exhibition open to all artists working or interested in water media.
One purpose of the exhibition is to encourage artists to put their work together in time for display in fine art institutions. Provide educational opportunities to become a gallery by pricing artwork, placing work in professional display (framed or finished canvas), and communicating with galleries. For some artists, “Wyoming Waters” is the first time they’ve shown in a gallery, or even the first time they’ve framed their work, making it perfectly finished.
“Wyoming Waters” is an exhibition featuring 38 different artists connecting through water-based media. Subject matter ranges from beautiful landscapes to dazzling abstracts to modern emotional depictions.
As with any exhibition or art solicitation at SAGE, it’s always amazing to see the connections and connections between the works, even without an artist co-creating. Therefore, arranging exhibitions in galleries is a beneficial creation. The pieces complement each other and elevate everyone’s work.
“Wyoming Waters: Small Works Watermedia” will be on view through November 26. The Artists Reception will be held on November 3rd from 5:30-7:30pm combining the diversity of water media and how it can build and inspire community through the visual arts.
