Top Gun: Maverick will claim the title of 2022’s top-grossing movie.
The Top Gun sequel has grossed $1.5 billion worldwide and more than $700 million domestically, according to KCRA. The film became the fifth highest-grossing domestic debut of all time.
According to Numbers, the film surpasses both Titanic and Avengers: Infinity War.

Paramount, which has been delayed multiple times due to the coronavirus pandemic, now holds the record for the second-best Memorial Day opening ever, behind Johnny Depp’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” which Released in 2007, it grossed $153 million at the box office.

“Top Gun: Maverick” grossed $151 million in its opening weekend.
Ticket buyers gave CinemaScore an A+ for the premiere of Jerry Bruckheimer’s film, with more than 70% of audiences aged 25+ and 55% of audiences aged 35+ .

The sci-fi flick from Steven Spielberg took in $64.9 million over the three-day weekend.

Comscore also noted that “Mission: Impossible: Fallout” grossed $61.2 million in 2018, but none of Cruise’s films grossed more than $60 million.
Cruise said Top Gun would “never” debut on the streaming network despite years of setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Deadline, “Maverick” was originally scheduled to release in July 2019 through Paramount Pictures, but was delayed in August 2018 “to allow the production to work out all the intricate flight sequences”.

When asked if he felt pressured to release the film in any capacity on the streaming network, Cruise assured viewers it would “never” happen.

“It’s never going to happen,” Cruise said with a laugh in excerpts published by The Hollywood Reporter. “That’s never going to happen.”
In 1986, Cruise made his “Maverick” debut as Lieutenant Pete Mitchell, a young Navy pilot aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. He has worked with Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan, Tim Robbins and Anthony Edwards.
